The Bible as Our Only Authority
We believe the Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments are the inspired, infallible Word of God and are sufficient to guide us in all matters of faith and practice. We ascribe to no creed apart from that of Jesus Christ, and hold to no book of discipline but the Bible (2 Timothy 3:16-17; 2 Peter 1:20-21).
One God in Three Persons
We affirm the eternal triune nature of God—Father, Son, and Holy Spirit—as revealed in Scripture.
Jesus Christ
We believe Jesus is the eternal Only Begotten Son of God, fully divine and fully human. He was born of the Virgin Mary and lived a life tempted in every way we are, yet was without sin. He was betrayed into the hands of the religious leaders of Jerusalem and condemned to death by crucifixion and executed by the Roman governor of Judea, Pontius Pilate. He died as the atoning sacrifice for our sins, once for all humanity. He was buried, rose bodily on the third day, and then ascended to the right hand of the Father in heaven, and he will return one day to judge the living and the dead. Salvation is found only in Him for there is no other name given to us by which we must be saved (John 1:1-14; 1 Corinthians 15; Acts 4:12).
The Gospel and Salvation
The gospel is the good news of Christ’s death, burial, and resurrection. We respond to this gospel by faith in Jesus, repentance of sin, confession of Christ as Lord, and baptism by immersion in water for the remission of sins, receiving the gift of the Holy Spirit (Mark 16:15-16; Acts 2:38; Romans 6:3-4). We are saved by grace through faith, not by works of merit. Yet true faith is demonstrated through the spiritual fruits of a transformed life of obedience in the Lord, loving and doing good to one another through the power of the Holy Spirit.
The Church of Christ
The Church is the body of Christ, composed of all who have been added to it by the Lord upon confession of his lordship, repentance from sin, and obedience in faith. Our approach to Scripture is that "Where the Scriptures speak, we speak; and where the Scriptures are silent, we are silent". We practice the New Testament pattern of worship and work: a cappella singing is not mandated, so we joyfully use musical instruments to praise God alongside vocal music (Ephesians 5:19; Colossians 3:16). We observe the Lord’s Supper every first day of the week, and use multiple cups as a practical expedient for the congregation. Each local church is autonomous, led by a plurality of qualified elders (shepherds/overseers) and served by deacons.
Christian Unity
We long for the visible unity of all believers based on the clear teachings of the New Testament. We extend fellowship to all who wear the name of Christ and submit to His lordship, while maintaining biblical convictions on matters of doctrine and practice.
Christian Living
We are called to holy living, moral integrity, and love for God and neighbor. While holding to views on marriage, family, sexuality, and ethics as taught in Scripture, we approach these with grace and humility, recognizing that every person is made in the image of God and in need of the Savior. We reject legalism, seeking instead a balanced, joyful obedience empowered by the Holy Spirit.
Future Hope in Christ
We believe in the resurrection of the dead, the final judgment, eternal life for the redeemed, and eternal separation from God for those who reject Christ. We live with eager expectation of the Lord’s return.
