Who We Are
Our Ethos & Vision
There are many churches in our world today. In the seemingly endless ocean of modern Christian churches and church organizations, what might someone find unique about the Church of Christ at Greenpoint? And what about the fellowship of Christian Churches and Churches of Christ, of which this church is a part?
The aim and vision of this church movement, which began in the 1800's, is to restore the ideals of the church founded by Jesus Christ through his apostles as found in the scriptures of the New Testament. The Restoration Movement's essence was and is unity in the faith, freedom in opinions, and love foremost in all things.
A prominent leader of the movement, Thomas Campbell, established this principle: That the Church of Christ upon earth is essentially, intentionally, and constitutionally one.
We at the Church of Christ at Greenpoint continually seek to remain true to this vision and the pattern of the New Testament church founded by Christ, however imperfect our implementation or those of others in our fellowship may be. We nonetheless strive toward unity in the Spirit to which we are called in Christ Jesus.
"Walk worthy of the calling with which you were called, with all lowliness and gentleness, with longsuffering, bearing with one another in love, endeavoring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace. There is one body and one Spirit, just as you were called in one hope of your calling; one Lord, one faith, one baptism; one God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all."
Ephesians 4:3-6 NKJV
